New Web Site Shows How I-DEP is Modernizing the Practice of Law

(December 13, 2001, Chicago, IL) - I-DEP, the legal industry's leading Internet deposition service provider, today relaunched its Web site www.i-dep.com, making it even easier for busy legal professionals to explore the advantages of its cutting-edge services and to schedule and attend Internet depositions.

I-DEP is the only fully integrated streaming media Internet deposition service that includes full video, two-way audio, real-time transcript and a built-in chat feature for discreet communication via computer or telephone with off-site and on-site participants. The service enables lawyers to take, participate in or monitor a deposition from any online computer live, as it happens, without any special hardware or software to buy, install or learn.

Jay Jackson, I-DEP's President and CEO, reports the service's client base has grown dramatically in the past few months. "Due to recent social and economic conditions and trends," Mr. Jackson said, "more than ever, legal professionals are seeing the benefits of using technology to avoid unnecessary travel."

Even after the deposition, I-DEP technology continues to make legal professionals' lives easier. I-DEP's Depositions on DemandSM allows attorneys to sign on to the Web site and review the complete deposition with audio and video automatically synchronized with the transcript. During review, users may perform keyword searches of both transcript and video, stop playback, go forward or back, view their private annotations made during the deposition and continue to annotate the transcript for later review. In addition, these files can be exported in a variety of formats for use in trial-preparation applications.

"Because the concept of Web-based depositions might be new to many attorneys, I encourage them to visit our site to explore many benefits of I-DEP Internet Deposition Services," Mr. Jackson said. "Legal professionals whose practices involve insurance companies, large or small law firms or corporate counsel will see how Internet depositions can be a powerful addition to their arsenal."

I-DEP Internet Deposition Services empower attorneys to conduct depositions in ways not previously possible. Only with I-DEP and an online computer can attorneys:

Attend remotely
  • Take a deposition occurring across the country right from their desk, thereby saving time and money previously spent on unnecessary travel.
  • Reduce travel-related costs by 40 to 70 percent.
  • Reallocate time spent on business travel.
Attend in person
  • Still travel to a critical deposition while having their colleagues and expert witnesses fully and discreetly participate from their desks, thus providing a key tactical advantage. Multiple minds depose better.
  • Leverage resources to improve depositions and case outcomes.
Attend after the fact
  • Using Depositions on Demand, review, edit and use the full deposition from anywhere at any time, thereby eliminating the need for costly post-deposition services.
  • Save money with I-DEP's free automatic synchronization of transcript and video, for which other services charge hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

"The tactical advantage of being able to discreetly communicate with the expert, or the young associate who originally worked up the case, or to field a question from the client can't be overestimated," Mr. Jackson said. "With I-DEP, technology eliminates the burdens of geography and logistics."

I-DEP's new Web site also makes it easy to become a free I-DEP member and to schedule and attend depositions online. According to Mr. Jackson, this new functionality comes at the request of the growing number of attorneys and court reporters who use I-DEP daily. "All of these legal professionals have become increasingly comfortable working online and want to do more and more of their tasks electronically," he pointed out.

Of particular note to visitors will be sections that outline how simple it is to participate in an I-DEP Internet Deposition, as well as testimonials from attorneys who have used I-DEP. Visitors also will have the chance to sign up for I-DEP's e-mail newsletter that offers tips on how to more effectively use the I-DEP service.

I-DEP Bolsters Security
In addition to its updated Web site, I-DEP has further fortified its data- protection measures. Because security is of paramount importance at I-DEP, the service has always maintained state-of-the-art protection of all streamed data, as well as data stored on I-DEP's secure servers. This protection now has been extended to all transcript data, including that on all broadcast equipment used by I-DEP Certified Court Reporters.

"All client data is now shielded behind 128-bit encryption," explained Mark Cummuta, I-DEP's Chief Technology Officer. "I-DEP, in fact, is more secure than many online institutions."
