Chicago Upstart Launches the Internet Deposition Revolution with I-DEP beta v1.0
CHICAGO, Ill. -- Mar. 30, 2000 -- I-DEP, LLC today
launched I-DEP beta v1.0, the world's first Internet browser-based
deposition service providing live video and two-way audio. I-DEP
enables lawyers to take or attend depositions as they happen
from anywhere to anywhere on any laptop or desktop PC via a secure
I-DEP provides lawyers a level of flexibility previously
unseen in the legal profession, allowing them to attend or take
depositions from their kitchen table to anywhere in the world.
The service provides live video, two-way audio, court reporter
transcript and cutting-edge private messaging to any desktop
or laptop PC. I-DEP Depositions on DemandSM automatically
archives every deposition for real-time review. It is user-friendly
and requires no special software or equipment.
"We are revolutionizing litigation,"
said Jay M. Jackson, I-DEP president. "Rather than wasting
time traveling to a deposition just to ask a few questions, attorneys
can see and interrogate witnesses, read the court reporter's
transcript and even discreetly communicate in real-time with
other participants or colleagues through the private messaging
Attorneys have had to physically travel from deposition
to deposition, wasting countless hours in travel time, or deal
with cumbersome video-conferencing technology. With the revolutionary
technology of I-DEP they can monitor, attend, and take depositions
around the country without leaving their office. I-DEP is transforming
the deposition process, while delivering a convenient, cost-saving
solution to attorneys and their clients.
"Not every deposition is appropriate for I-DEP,"
said Jackson. "We are not trying to be everything to everyone.
While we understand that there are many depositions in which
lawyers should attend in person, I-DEP works beautifully for
sit-in deps, multiple party, peripheral witness depositions and
most telephone depositions."
I-DEP is partnering with national court reporting firms to deliver
the service. I-DEP is court reporter friendly and will provide
additional revenue streams to the firms and individual reporters.
Court reporters will participate in special training sessions
and earn I-DEP certification.
"Law firms of all sizes are expressing a high
level of interest in our service," says Jackson. "It's
only a matter of time before clients request I-DEP depositions,
based on the convenience for them and the cost-savings we deliver
for their clients."
Look for the release of I-DEP v1.0 in May 2000.
